We’re Feelin’ Twenty Six!

theTwentySIX+Logo+jpegWe’ve recently discovered a new gem, we are dying to share with you: From the luxury lifestyle mastermind behind weekly twitter chat #DesignLux and gorgeous editorial content featured in Traditional Home, Dwell On Design, Riviera, comes The Twenty Six, DCoop Media’s new journal for luxury design

Winter+2014

The Twenty Six, holds true to its inspiring positioning statement. Their goal is: to ‘give readers more than just a pretty picture with a vanilla blub, and expand their thinking beyond the normal realm of luxury.’

With just two issues out, they’ve already accomplished that goal and more by engaging readers, by making us feel connected to the interior design community in a way that’s seldom experienced reading editorial magazines.

Currey & Co. Knows How to Party!

Who’s ready to party at Design Camp?! Currey & Company sure is! They’ll be hosting Design Camp’s Welcome Reception & Cocktail Party on January 10, 2015 in their showroom, B1 14-F 10 during Design Camp Atlanta! Which you can register for here!

NewBlue-541-2014

The Welcome Reception will be part of the two day Camp, held at AmericasMart, and will include a showroom tour day at Market and four special guest speakers led by local and national industry experts in niche fields.  We are thrilled to have Currey & Company be our host sponsor for Design Camp Atlanta. Their beautiful showroom at AmericasMart is the perfect venue for our Campers– Plus they know how to throw a party!

If you’re like us, you’re probably familiar with Currey’s jaw-dropping lighting fixtures. Check out some of our favorite table lamps from their Winterthur Collection.

And we certainly have an affinity for  Currey’s antiqued chandelier’s. The corkscrew cables and Spanish gilt finishes give the Montmorenci a distinctly European feel — perfect for a dinning nook in a shabby-chic country kitchen or an old rustic study.

The talent of their designers transcends mere light fixtures — Their lamps and chandeliers, though beautiful on their own, become something even more striking when paired with Currey and Co’s accent furniture.

Screen Shot 2014-11-20 at 3.38.16 PM Their new cocktail tables are delicate, detailed pieces. They debuted over a dozen new occasional tables just last month. Explore for yourself here!

Design Camp at High Point…and Beyond!

We had time to tour ourselves around at this year’s Fall High Point Market, discovering new lines we love and revisiting some of our old favorites. But while we were not running around market, shopping our favorite lines, we were actually working (we promise!).

Our first order of business was a fabulous breakfast hosted by Lexington Home Brands, held in their amazing showroom, which is always a treat in and of it’s self. The turn out was phenomenal! We packed the house with 120 interior designers and had the humbling pleasure of sharing some personal anecdotes, discussing how the community Design Camp creates has been pivotal in helping designers grow their businesses.

We also had some fabulous giveaways! It was a highlight of our day to be able to award designer Genevive Roberts from Interiors by Genevive, an expenses-paid trip to the next Design Camp, Las Vegas, compliments of Lexington Home Brands. And check out these custom made notebooks Lexington made for our Campers using the same fabric as their Carrera line.

At Design Camp High Point, there were over 200 Interior Designers in attendance, packed tightly adjacent to the Jaipur Rugs showroom. We discussed the advantages and transparency of charging a flat fee, learned what it takes to earn the title “Best of Houzz,” and had an inspiring discussion with Mary McDonald of Bravo TV’s Million Dollar Decorators. Her new fabric and furniture lines take design to the next level. Her bold, modern-classical aesthetic will surely become an iconic look. We anticipate the day we hear our own clients ask for the “Mary McDonald look” in their homes.

Jaipur has been incredible to us and to our campers. All of our Design Campers walked away from camp, not only with hand-scribbled notes and tips from the trade, and an overflow of knowledge to process, but also a bunch of swag – Physical Mementos from Parlore, Noir, Caracole, Leftbank, and Tile Bar: reminders of the fabulous community we create and products we discover together at camp.

We’re still in awe about how much our Design Camp community has grown over the past couple years and can’t wait to spoil our Design Campers with more business and design advice from design icons at Design Camp Atlanta during the Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market this January! Suzanne Kasler will be headlining Design Camp Atlanta, and you can bet we’ll be sitting there, pens in hand, ready to take notes along side all of our campers.

Mirror Image Home: The Fairest of Them All!

We sought out to find the right collection of mirrors that could be the perfect eye-pulling center piece–not just above a bathroom sink, but in a bedroom or living space:

Mirror Image Home’s annual collaboration with industry leading designers offers fantastic collections, but this year have been some of our absolute favorites! Check out our highlights:

Screen Shot 2014-06-27 at 6.45.26 PM

Michael S. Smith sought out to create a collection of mirrors that was “accessible, yet sophisticated,” and indeed he did! We can definitely see ourselves using these in California costal residences AND in more commercial spaces. The versatility of these mirrors might be our favorite thing about them!

Screen Shot 2014-06-27 at 6.45.34 PM

Bunny William’s wanted to exemplify her eclectic, cultured taste in her mirror collection and we can definitely see her well-traveled influences in these inspired pieces. The Bunny Williams mirrors are perfect for intimate spaces like bedrooms so the detail on the mirrors can be fully appreciated.

Screen Shot 2014-06-27 at 6.45.42 PM

Barclay Butera describes mirrors as being “jewelry for the room,” framing their subjects best qualities. In designing his collection, he was greatly concerned with crafting designs that were both masculine and feminine. Because Mirror Image Home has a wide range of manufacturing capabilities Barclay was able to create a myriad of styles that go seamlessly with a variety of lifestyles. From slick city metals and rustic distressed wood to sophisticated lacquers, it’s one of our favorite and most overwhelming collaborations to shop!

Additional wall décor from Mirror Image Home includes framed art, specimen shadow boxes, and custom sized square and rectangle mirrors. Custom finishes such as color lacquer and metallic leafing are also available.  For more information visit: www.mirrorimagehome.com

5 Favorites in Outdoor Furniture

Things are really heating up around here and we are ridiculously ready for summer!  We’ve got our favorite shades on, a glass of cucumber lemonade and music playing – it’s time to kick back and relax, my friends.

As you know, we are BIG on indoor / outdoor living, and we are seeing some great designs that are exciting this season.

Tommy Bahama Outdoor Furniture

Tommy Bahama Outdoor Furniture has taken woven wicker to a whole new level by bringing these typically indoor styles to the outdoors.  This collection feels so fresh – the light and beachy feel, the fluid movement of the table base and these chair styles that I’ve loved so much for living rooms but have never seen for the patio.  Nice job, Tommy!

Lamps Plus (Yes Lamps Plus has furniture!) has a great selection of outdoor pieces in various styles, including this play off the traditional outdoor wicker settee, giving it a more relaxed and modern feel with it’s shape, open weave and grey tones.  We’ll take 2!

Jaipur offers up plenty of bright and colorful graphic indoor/outdoor rugs, pillows and poufs that we love to use in our projects.  You can keep a neutral backdrop and change these out for a fresh look each season!   It’s a great way to create a new look without breaking the bank.

Much to our delight, last fall we discovered that Made Goods now has outdoor furniture!  Thank you!  Thank you!  Their pieces are so much fun and really make a space feel special.

If you want something straight out of a resort, Zuo Mod has the hot stuff you’re looking for.  This Martinique daybed is regal, relaxing and a little exotic.  Just our summer style!

we are constantly impressed by how many new and exciting things come to market each season and we are really looking forward to the next few months.  Whether you come home inspired by your summer vacation or you want to create your own oasis at home, there are so many options out there.  Let loose, have fun and let the summer fiestas begin!

Interior Design Camp Orange County was a hit!

We are still buzzing from Interior Design Camp Orange County at the Laguna Design Center!  Each and every camp we learn something new and are filled with a fresh spark of enthusiasm.  This was our biggest and best camp yet (164!) and we’re so grateful to everyone who attended – Counselors, Campers and Sponsors.  You are all so amazing and YOU are what makes this event great!

This camp brought a theme of Passion and Positioning to our world of design.  Passion for what gets you out of bed in the morning, excites and drives you.  And Positioning your business, brand and marketing and how this all feeds back into your ultimate success.

Like everyone else, our brains were overflowing with so many ideas and inspiration, and our cheeks were sore from all the smiling and laughing.  We watched as connections were made, ah-ha sparks were lit and as camper Monica Nordquist said, had “a bonfire lit under me”.

Our line-up of incredible speakers this camp included the Design Elite Kathryn M IrelandTimothy CorriganNathan Turner, Adam Japko (Digital Sherpa), Cliff FongBarbara Deckmeyer, Katy Garrett (Connexion Software), Phil Pallen, Bill Indursky (Design Life Network), Julie Thigpen (Belle Maison), Paloma Contreras (La Dolce Vita), Builder John Finton, Pamela Jaccarino (Editor-in-Chief ofLuxe Interiors+Design), Jason Clark of HansgroheChristopher Kennedy, Christian May (Maison21), Tracy Burge and Julie Arcelay (Sub-Zero Wolf), Jeff Andrews, Brian Van Gorder (BVG PR), Rich Pedine (RP PR), Aaron Danzig (Williams-Sonoma), Jennifer Convy, and Penelope Francis.  Amazing!

The Opening Night Party, hosted by Sub-Wolf Zero was incredible and we had a wonderful time (despite the Southern California rain – what?)  P.S. We can’t wait to visit their huge new showroom in Orange County soon!
